Title IX

Title IX is a federal law, enacted in 1972, that protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance, including state and local educational agencies. Under Title IX, no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity operated by the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District.

The Title IX compliance officer is the individual designated by the District to coordinate the District’s compliance with Title IX, including overseeing all discrimination, harassment, and intimidation complaints under Title IX and identifying and addressing any patterns or systematic problems that arise during the review of such complaints.
